Espiner Medical Supports CPD-Accredited Morcellation Masterclass in Manchester

Espiner Morcellation Masterclass Cohort March 2026

Espiner Medical recently supported the delivery of a specialised Morcellation Masterclass at the Manchester Surgical Skills and Simulation Centre (MSSSC), welcoming 15 consultant gynaecologists to an intensive, CPD-accredited training programme.

Held on 12 March 2026, the Masterclass focused on advancing safe powered morcellation techniques and enhancing laparoscopic surgical skills. The programme combined expert-led lectures, surgical video demonstrations and practical, hands-on workshops, all designed to promote precision, patient safety and best practice in minimally invasive gynaecology.

The course was led by experienced Manchester-based consultant gynaecologists, Dr Nikolaos Tsampras and Dr Sujata Gupta, both recognised for their expertise in laparoscopic and minimally invasive surgical techniques. Throughout the session, they shared practical insights drawn from clinical experience, guiding delegates through key procedural approaches, safety considerations and real-world scenarios.

Participants observed demonstrations of both powered and manual morcellation in a simulated surgical environment, alongside the use of Espiner Medical’s morcellation sac. Designed and manufactured in the UK, and distributed by Fannin, Espiner Medical’s tissue retrieval range is widely trusted in minimally invasive surgery and recognised internationally for its durable ripstop nylon construction, supporting secure specimen containment during laparoscopic procedures.

Feedback from attendees was highly positive, with strong evaluation scores across key areas including clinical relevance, quality of teaching, and the balance between theory and practical application. Delegates particularly valued the hands-on training and the depth of faculty expertise, with many noting increased confidence in performing in-bag morcellation techniques.

“It has been a pleasure to work with Fannin UK on delivering this Masterclass. Our aim was to create a balanced program that combined evidence-based education with practical, hands-on experience. By exploring the benefits of powered morcellation alongside the use of containment systems such as the Espiner morcellation bag, we were able to give delegates a clear understanding of safe tissue management techniques that can be applied in modern minimally invasive surgery. It was particularly rewarding to see the strong engagement from participants and the very positive feedback on the sessions.” – Course Faculty and Consultant Gynaecologist, Dr Nikolaos Tsampras

Following the success of the inaugural event, registrations are now open for the next Morcellation Masterclass in June, reflecting growing demand for structured CPD training in this specialist area.
